Who is Frank?

Frank has been learning about survival and the natural world for over 40 years. He's a naturalist, wildlife tracker, bushcraft practitioner — and he's been quietly showing up at boot sales for decades, connecting with people who know things.

He worked alongside the military. He follows big cat sightings across the UK. He knows how deer move, how birds fly toward water, and why panic kills people faster than anything else.

He runs Fromebridge Mill Car Boot Sale — 150 to 200 cars most weekends, a few minutes from M5 Junction 13. If the internet went down tomorrow, Frank would be fine. Now you know where to find him.

Frank's SAFE System

Frank made this himself. Four priorities when everything goes wrong — in order.

Shelter

Cold and extreme heat kill you faster than hunger. You can survive 30 days without food. You can't survive a night without shelter.

Aqua

Three days without water in some conditions. Always carry a 5-litre can. Sterilise before drinking.

Fire

Warmth, cooking, signalling. Always carry a firestarter. Dry wood only — wet wood is useless. Green leaves on a fire make smoke visible for miles.

Emergency

Make yourself visible. Lay something bright orange in a field. Smoke signals. Don't panic — sit down, assess, then act.

Frank's Tips

🦌Watch the deer. They drink at dawn and dusk. Follow them and you'll find water.
🐦Birds always fly toward water and back. Watch the direction they come from.
🏞️Lost near a river or stream? Follow it downstream. Rivers lead to people.
🔥Always carry a firestarter. Not a lighter — a firesteel or flint. Lighters run out. Learn this before you need it.
🧠The worst thing is panic. Sit down. Breathe. Assess. Most people who die in survival situations die in the first hour because they don't stop.
👁️Sit still in woodland. Wait. Animals come to you. Most people stomp through and see nothing — one human footfall is heard 100 yards away.
🎒Always carry: a blanket, something to shelter with, a way to make fire, a way to sterilise water. That's the kit. Everything else is extra.
